Amburgers and Wootbeer

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 9:05 PM
Warning: Do NOT try A&W's "Rootbeer Float in a Bottle".

I guess the only good thing is its one of the few American beverages out there that uses real sugar instead of corn syrup, and this is made with "real cream!" Oh god, urp. So much anticipation, wasted D:

REUNION FORCE, GO!

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Neat. I just logged into my e-mail and had over 900+ e-mails from "Heather" from site spam site called Reunion.com. To *EVERY SINGLE ONE* of my e-mail addresses. Apparently, if they can't e-mail you to get your attention, they'll flood!

SPAMMER: "Do you like e-mail?"
SEAN: "OH BOY, DO I EVER!!"
SPAMMER: "Here, fucker! Have 2,700 spams!"
SEAN: "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUU... oh, wait. *click, delete*"

I didn't even know my e-mail servers could process that much shit. It's just so cute how hard these guys try. =D

Attn: Nam and Mare

Nam, I know you told me to take my time .. but tonight i was . . for lack of a better word "in the zone" and it was really relaxing to inhale fume de crayon again ;) In any case, a huge thank you to those of you who have commissioned a piece from me thus far. I will not know my damages until tomorrow evening . . if i need tires . . ouch.

I have to say, I really like how these turned out, even though they do not look like the paintings I tried to base them off of much at all. I actually brought out the old travel iron to do these, as the travel iron to me, creates a better texture than the encaustic iron does. I did try doing something new. In each piece, I tried to do it in many layers, to add more texture as well as a sese of perspective and horizon.

Nam, you said you wanted ferns or fronds .. so I went off of that and made an actual horizon line, which I hope you can see in the finished product.

This was the first piece, done as practice .. my way of warming up. I need to do shorter warm ups .. 1 hour is too long for me ;)

This one is for you Mare. I did yours first, as I had a better image in my head .. and so I was planning Nam's while working on the one below. I call it "Ocean of the Sky"

And here is the finished piece for Nam. I really like how this piece came out. I used a whole lot more yellow than I planned and I also used a bit of purple and orange. I like the warm, soft feeling this one gives off. I need to use more warm colors ;) No title for this one

I have a thrid commissions in my line of things to do and it will be done tomorrow afternoon. Thank you all again for your support and Nam I got your addy .. I did not know you lived in NY ;)

Also . if wither of you are not pleased, I am going to try again tomorrow as I know these do not look like my first paintings. I am using the same paper, the same crayons, the same iron on the same setting . . i think my technique is iffy. Let me know if you want a remake ok?

Ok .. time to veg

If anyone else would like a commission, please let me know.

The Sketchbook 18 Rocks! Drive

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 9:01 PM
Diamond Pride Stretch Alysha, Hostess
Samples from Sketchbook 18

In most every "decade" of sketchbooks, there's some milestone, some event that stands out among the ten. Sometimes it's fairly minor, a blip on the radar.

And sometimes, it's huge.

In the 11-20 decade I was in college... and by the later part of that set, I was far enough advanced in my studio art degree to start taking art history courses. The Gothic, Renaissance and Modern Art History classes were staggering. Sketchbook 18 in particular is full of long, patient drawings, done in class, out of class...everywhere. There's a lot of stippling. A lot of brush-work. A lot of inking. Looking at Sketchbook 11 and then Sketchbook 18, you'd think years had passed.

I happen to think Sketchbook 18 rocks, and I would love to have more of it online! If you'd like to, too, here's the button. If you want to be acknowledged as sponsoring the scans, remember to leave me a comment!

I can't even think of a witty subject.

[info]45eugenia just ruined my night.

...they went and did it.

I WILL NEVER UNSEE THIS. It just looks so awful! And what, don't they have the rights to use, I dunno, the actual SONG CALLED 'LIFE ON MARS'?? :|

[info]lazenich oh jesus
[info]lazenich this looks terrible
[info]reaperfox doesn't it.
[info]reaperfox what the christ.
[info]lazenich the RULES are OLD SCHOOL
[info]lazenich CRIME SOLVING is EVOLVING
[info]lazenich I think whoever said the American '70s wouldn't work for it (it might have been me, I forget) was right
[info]reaperfox American 70s is way, WAY too iconic
[info]reaperfox you've just got an ugly guy walking around Bay City, for fuck's sake.
[info]lazenich yeah exactly
[info]lazenich plus
[info]lazenich urrrrrgh *vomits on that Gene Hunt*
[info]lazenich I like how they had to explain the title
[info]lazenich I mean yeah, they do that in the opening to the show
[info]lazenich but it's like they had to reassure people that it would not be set on Mars
[info]reaperfox hah, the video's not working for me anymre.
[info]lazenich lucky duck!

In summary: Oh, America.
I was talking to someone about how sad I was to only get 8 entries in this contest. They pointed out that:
A. I haven't had time to advertise it for weeks.
B. The due date was right around finals for most students.

So, I am extending this contest to May 29. And now that I have time, I'll advertise the hell out of it.

This is the image you need to color. Uploaded big for coloring. Follow the rules, they're printed right on the image.

And here's info on the contest. Including rules, prizes, and answered questions.

bad . . just got a lot worse

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Ooook . . . so, yeah, funds right now are tight. The bad got a lot worse . . . my tires are going flat. I just dropped my baby off for tomorrow morning to get an oil change, inspection and tires .. hopefully not all 4. Dask noticed my rear driver side going flat this evening and said I should get it taken care of.

Thank you to those of you willing to get a commission from me. I will be working on those shortly, but they will not be shipped out until Thursday or Friday due to my lack of a car.

Thinking about making a batch of rings to sell cheaply . . . if you are interested in one, let me know the size ans the color. Right now I am only offering copper or gold coated wire for the wrap.

Also, Nam and Mare, i need your mailing addresses. You can send them to me at: ceastar82@yahoo.com

sorry Mare . . I seem to have misplaced yours.

Now . . time to make a nice cup of tea, work on another layer of my painting, then work on commissions and rings. I do not plan on sleeping any time soon.

And if I'm wasting my time...

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 12:51 AM
Man. I wish I was allowed to colour [info]doctorwhy. I honestly forgot how much fun digital colouring can be. I wish I was better, though. I look at [info]sunshade's stuff and weep.

This song is soooo good. So short and bittersweet. I am really, really starting to like the White Stripes, y'know?

And if I'm wasting my time
Then nothing could be better
Than hanging on the line
And waiting for an honest word forever

And if you're saying goodbye
Please don't you think me bitter
For recalling every rhyme
From the book the page
The line the word the letter

Well the windows turning blue
And the waters ever flowing
And I hope i'm not a fool
For laughing at myself
As you are going.

The Devil is in the details

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 4:28 PM
Well guys.

I thank you all for the support. But it seems I overlooked something in regards to the application for that internship. I must have confused the dates or something. I will be submitting a portfolio to Disney for an internship. That you can count on. It just won't be until October. And by then I'll have some actual animations under my belt, hopefully. Besides, the work I did for this can also go toward my portfolio for Comic-Con.

I feel like an idiot. But it's...not so bad how it turned out.

Okay, I'm kick starting myself out of this art-slump I'm in.

Forcibly kicking myself if that what it takes.

So. Help me.

Reply with your character, ideally a good reference picture and your/their favorite color.
Dosn't matter who/what your character is, I want to broaden my horizons as it were.

So yeah.

Ready, set go.

MMC Con report

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 12:54 AM
So, what was MMC like?

For those who don't know, MMC is held on an old castle which has been turned into a youth hostel. If you've ever seen photos of Eurofurence 7 (1998), you'll remember the location.

MMC is special in that it lacks any kind of programming. Sure, they have a dealers room, an art show plus auction, and there's a dance. That's it. The rest of the con consists of meeting people, socializing, relaxing, having fun. Sounds boring? Now... imagine this on a 4 day weekend, the sun is shining, it's hot outside, hardly anyone stays inside. The convention sort of turns into an outdoor meet.

It's relaxed, fun, awesome in any way and I got drunk every night. Yay me!

Considering this, there's no real con report in the usual "Friday 12:56pm - BBF goes to the toilet" style. There are a few noteable things, tho:

- getting stuck in a traffic congestion for 3,5h is NOT fun.
- fursuiting IS.
- I think I won the annual outgrossing-contests.
- The CD Player was the first thing that broke during the dance: No, I don't think that a 5 minute song can play for another 8 minutes and 98 seconds.
- The Mixer decided I don't need headphones anymore.
- One of the turntables decided that pitch faders are overrated.
- An extra day of con AFTER everything had been torn down and loaded into the cars = win.
- not enough Jägermeister.
- enough beer.
- not enough ramen.
- enough other tasty food!

Birthday ...

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 12:06 AM
Maybe it's still too early if we consider United States, ... anyway here's already the 14th of May (0:40 AM) and I want to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]thornwolf!!!!

I realized that I didn't prepared anything for this special occasion, so I picked up my pencil and I drew a super-mega-quick birthday doodle for you! =)
It's a bit stupid and simple perhaps, but I absolutely wanted to show you a sign of my appreciation and this is the result; I hope you like it anyway! ;) XD

I am now officially a degree-holding college graduate! I was pleasantly surprised to discover I graduated magna cum laude. They gave me a shiny medal. Is it sad that what I kept thinking about when they put that over my head was the ending scene of A New Hope?

I went out to dinner with my family, John's family, Melissa's family, Tovo, and Dave after the ceremony. That was fun. We ran into Danny there as well. Apparently it was a popular post-graduation dinner spot.

When I got back to the apartment, I guess all my recent stress finally caught up with me so I decided to go home for the night to get a much-needed break from my messy, dark, spider-filled apartment.

Aly, Tig, and Kelli, I apologize for not sticking around to chat longer. I was kind of overwhelmed by everything going on and it kind of did not occur to me that that was the last time I would probably see everyone at school (minus the IOH people) so I didn't really say goodbye to anyone. It finally hit me a few hours later when I was on the road to LA. D'oh. We should try to meet up for lunch or something before I move back to LA. And Aly, thank you for the balloons!

I have lots of pictures to post as soon as my dad sends them to me.

I'm trying not to stress out too much about all the stuff I have to do now that I've graduated. I need to clean and pack my stuff up in the apartment, move it all back home and then unpack it. I have some freelance stuff I need to get started on as soon as I get the chance and I have to start applying for full-time jobs. I'd also like to get back on my diet/exercise plan. I started that a few times in the past year but kept failing because it was just impossible for me to exercise regularly and stick to a healthy diet while in school. Hopefully that'll be easier once I move back home.

In all, I plan to try my best to start this new phase of my life as a happier, more focused, more productive person. As much as I hate change, the one nice thing about it is it sort of gives you a fresh start.

And now I have to get stuff ready for IOH tomorrow!

Lope's Adult content FurBuy auction.....

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 2:21 PM
I am offering an adult content commission to anyone who is interested in throwing some cash my way to do something naughty. Many of you who have seen my stuff know that I do quite well with a lot of detail, athletic to muscular characters, macro/micro, feet first soft vore and body worship. But if you decide to bid then have at least 2 ideas in mind for your picture should you win.

Ladder auction - The more you bid the more you will get. ( This message has been posted in several places on the net, sorry if its a bit repetitive.)
